There are changes a’brewin over at ABC. Come September 2011, ABC will unveil “
The Chew,” a new daytime show that will focus exclusively on the world of food—from every conceivable angle you can imagine. From the press release, “The Chew” will focus on food “as a source of joy, health, family ritual, friendship, breaking news, dating, fitness, weight loss, travel adventures and life's moments,” as well as look at food trends, how food affects our health, lives, etc.

Chef Mario Batali |
This hour-long format will feature celebrity notables such as
Chef Mario Batali, restaurateur, author and media personality (and who also had a cameo in the film "Bitter Feast" – read my take on it
HERE);
Chef Michael Symon, restaurateur and contestant on Food Network's "Iron Chef America”; and
Chef Carla Hall of Top Chef fame, among others.
Gordon Elliott (remember him from his talk show “The Gordon Elliott Show” back in the early-to-mid ‘90s?) will be the show’s producer, and has such current hits on his hands as "Paul Deen’s Home Cooking" and Down Home With the Neelys" (both popular Food Network shows) with his production company,
Follow Productions.
While I personally have mixed emotions at seeing yet another television show jump on the already overcrowded food-in-your-face bandwagon (yes, I know . . . this is teetering precariously on the brink of blasphemy coming from a self-professed foodie . . .), I do hope this show succeeds for ABC. After all, they’re pulling “All My Children” off the air to make room for this veritable foodfest!
What do you think?
